Complete Scoliosis Program
Complete Scoliosis
Program (CSP) is a Methodology of how to approach and treat scoliosis. It will allow you to address this complex condition with
confidence.
Scoliosis can be a devastating
condition. This condition affects approximately 10 million people in the United States. Even
though conservative treatment and
specific exercises for scoliosis have shown great success to reduce the curvature in Europe, the main
treatment method in the United State remains the spinal fusion. Scoliosis is a
complex condition and many of physical therapists feel overwhelmed addressing
this issue. In the past few years it has become clear that scoliosis is a three
dimensional spinal deformity and it must be treated as such. Isolated linear
correction will not have any effect in
correcting the cobb’s angle.
The
Complete Scoliosis Program® approaches scoliosis in a systematic way. Attendees
will examine scoliosis and its pathological affects on musculoskeletal tissue,
joints and their functions,
lungs and diaphragm. Because
scoliosis is a three dimensional condition, a clear and dissected
concept of this condition will be demonstrated. In addition, and due to the
nature of the muscle imbalance in scoliosis, participants will learn a series
of step-by-step exercises with the focus on patient education and home program. Each type of scoliosis has its
own set of exercises. A three curve scoliosis and a C curve scoliosis must be
treated differently.
Additionally,
to ensure a thorough understanding of the subject, case studies will be reviewed
and question from attendees will be answered. Participants will leave this
seminar with a fresh perspective and more confidence on working with scoliosis.
During this program you will learn to:
1. Deepen your understanding of scoliosis.
2. Discover the pathological effects of scoliosis.
3. Identify and evaluate different forms of scoliosis.
4. Determine an appropriate treatment for scoliosis.
5. Apply effective step-by-step corrections
6. Practice with various exercise tools (wall bars, poles, Reformer, ect.)
7. Design a comprehensive home exercise program.
